I read these verses in my Bible this morning and wanted to share them with you.
Mat 11:28-30 "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light."
A few of the words stuck out to me - come, take, lean, and rest. This is exactly how it is in our Christian lives. We must first come to Jesus when we're in need of strength or comfort. He's more than willing and ready to help us, but He is a gentleman and will not force His strength on us.
After we come to Him, we must take His yoke upon us. A yoke is something that gives two creatures the ability to bear a burden more easily than either of them could alone. Our yoke - as sinful, human flesh - is heavy. It's never easy to bear the burdens of life alone. In fact, the Lord said many times in His Word that we will be persecuted as we seek to live a Godly and God honoring life. But the good news is, He wants to help us! How awesome is that?!?!
Lean.... Have you ever leaned on your desk...a wall....a chair? Why do we lean on something supportive? We lean because we recognize our own inability to carry the burden. We recognize the fact that we're not strong enough and we seek relief by leaning on something for strength. What better "thing" can we lean on than the Lord Jesus Christ?! I found a quote the other day that helps to support this fact. It says, "He is a fool who leans on the arm of flesh, when he can be supported by the arm of Omnipotence". The arm of Omnipotence....the arm of Strength. God is the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End. He had the strength and ability to create the entire universe, don't you think He's strong enough to help us carry our burdens?
And last, but certainly not least, rest. Ahhhh...... How comforting to know that we can rest in the arms of GOD!!! No matter what we face in life, no matter how hard our trials are, we can always rest in God!!! Praise the Lord!!!!!! Forgive me if I seem a little passionate about this.... I AM! God has seen me, my family, and many of my friends through some super hard (in our eyes) times, yet to Him it was nothing. What is better than a good night's rest after a long, wearysome day? What is better than knowing that you can look forward to resting with the one you love after you've had a rough time? Even better still - knowing for a fact that Jesus Christ is just waiting for you to come to Him, to take His yoke upon you, to lean on Him, and to rest in Him!!

Back at it again!
After a couple years of blogging, followed by a couple years of not blogging, I decided to start it up again. :-) I can't promise that all my entries will be entertaining, but I hope at the very least to be able to give you a peek into my life and to encourage you in the Lord. :D Sorry to make such a short first post, but I better get back to school....
